Gomoku is originated from China(\u4e94\u5b50\u68cb) and popular in Japan (\u4e94\u76ee\u4e26\u3079), Korean(\uc624\ubaa9) and all over the world. It is also known as Gobang, Renju, Connect 5 or Five in a row.

The rule is simple, be the first to be an unbroken row of five pieces horizontally, vertically or diagonally to win the game. But like any strategy game with simple rules, good offeense-defense balance is the key to win.
